Over several years, photographer John Power traveled through Chicago's neighborhoods documenting vehicles exactly as he found them, creating an unexpected visual record of the city and its streets. Featuring more than 60 photographs, the collection spans dozens of neighborhoods, from Rogers Park and Wicker Park to Pilsen, Hyde Park, and Bridgeport. Classic American cars, imported sedans, pickup trucks, and weathered daily drivers appear against a backdrop of bungalows, two-flats, greystones, storefronts, warehouses, and tree-lined residential streets. Together, the photographs capture not only the automobiles themselves, but also the architecture, streetscapes, and neighborhood character that surround them. Each photograph is paired with a map identifying where it was taken, inviting readers to follow Power’s journey across the city and discover Chicago one block at a time.
