Preaching on F.I.R.E. captivates both novice and seasoned preachers, while its principles ignite sermons that hold congregations in rapt attention. This work challenges conventional, detached approaches to biblical study and replaces them with a dynamic four-step process—F.I.R.E.—that honors Scripture as the living Word of God and testifies to an active, personal relationship with its divine Author.
Once the flame is lit, preachers are guided through the development of sermon points, including a crucial and frequently overlooked theological step. This essential phase of sermon construction is clarified through the E.T.A. framework, ensuring depth, faithfulness, and clarity.
The journey continues into the art of sermon delivery, where preparation and proclamation converge. The Holy Spirit is presented as the exegete’s guide throughout the interpretive process and as the divine voice speaking in harmony with the biblical text during preaching. A compelling section titled “An Extreme Takeover from a Friendly Force” explores the Spirit’s supernatural empowerment of carefully prepared messages.
Questions of faithfulness and accuracy in representing God’s Word are addressed through two chapters devoted to the history of preaching, featuring thoughtful examinations of both authoritative and nonauthoritative examples from the pulpit.
The volume concludes with a full sermon drawn from 1 Samuel 17—the timeless account of David and Goliath—demonstrating the principles of Preaching on F.I.R.E. in action and showcasing the transformative potential of Spirit-empowered proclamation.
