Precision Fermentation and Metabolic Engineering presents the scientific principles and modern technological advances in precision fermentation and metabolic engineering applied to probiotics and postbiotics. Traditional fermentation processes are increasingly being replaced by controlled and design-based approaches that allow the targeted production of specific microbial metabolites with functional and nutritional value. The book explains microbial physiology, metabolic pathways, fermentation kinetics, and engineering strategies required to produce defined postbiotic compounds using food-grade microorganisms.
The chapters cover microbiology, metabolic engineering, fermentation process control, metabolomics, scale-up technologies, and functional evaluation of probiotic and postbiotic products. Special emphasis is given to precision fermentation, multi-omics approaches, and modern bioprocess technologies used for developing next-generation functional food ingredients.
This volume will serve as a scientific reference for students, researchers, and industry professionals working in food biotechnology, fermentation science, and microbial metabolite engineering.
