In the Recherche, Proust does not depict childhood as a period of life with its obligatory stages, expected psychology, or socializing function. Rather, he presents it as a combination of events forming an existential cycle with blurred outlines, showing how these affect consciousness and recur throughout life. Mireille Naturel a été responsable de l’équipe « Proust » du CRP 19 de la Sorbonne nouvelle, Secrétaire générale de la Société des Amis de Marcel Proust et directrice du Bulletin Marcel Proust. Elle est l’auteur de Proust et Flaubert : un secret d’écriture (Rodopi, 1999, rééd. 2007), Proust et le fait littéraire (Champion, 2010, rééd. 2012) et a dirigé plusieurs ouvrages collectifs. Elle est maintenant Présidente de l’ARIPIC (Association des Rencontres internationales proustiennes d’Illiers-Combray).
