This chapter explores the ways that hyperspectral data could be used to classify hill farm pasture more effectively. The research discussed in the chapter focuses on developing and validating a technique to use remote sensing techniques to map the spatial distribution, at farm scale, of three plant functional groups (PFG) identified as key indicators of pasture condition. Understanding the distribution of these groups can help decision making relating to improved pasture management to meet production, environmental and other goals.
