Riko is a brand-new robot, built with a fast processor and flawless memory, except his emotion function comes back with an error. When he meets a girl named Elsie during a factory tour, he discovers laughter for the first time through a silly guessing game. Once he joins her class at school, Riko slowly learns to recognize and name his feelings, one at a time, through the everyday ups and downs of classroom life: a tower that collapses, a poem that gets laughed at, a project ruined by accident, a scary moment lost in the woods. Through Riko's journey, kids learn that every one of these feelings, even the uncomfortable ones, is normal and worth talking about.

Oldrich Ruzicka is an acclaimed Czech children's book author whose works have been translated into many languages all over the world. After graduating from the Faculty of Education, he spent several years teaching before transitioning to publishing. He worked as chief editor and publisher of a major Czech publishing before founding his own. Ruzicka currently resides in Brno, Czech Republic.
Katerina Hikade works as an illustrator, graphic designer and workshop leader. She graduated in scientific drawing and illustration from the Secondary School of Art and Design in Brno and is a student at the Studio of Graphic Design 2 of Brno’s Faculty of Fine Arts. She is currently engaged in film education as she helps create an informal programme at the Cinema School of Brno’s Kino Art. Katerina currently resides in Prague, Czech Republic.
