Paul Hoyningen-Huene, born in 1946, studied theoretical physics at the Universities of Munich and Zürich, where he earned his doctorate in 1975. After early positions in physics and philosophy at Zürich, he held professorships in history and philosophy of science at Konstanz (1990–1997) and, from 1997 to 2014, in philosophy at Leibniz University Hannover, where he founded and directed the Center for Philosophy and Ethics of Science. A leading scholar of Thomas Kuhn and Paul Feyerabend, he is professor emeritus at Hannover and continues to lecture on the philosophy of economics at the University of Zürich.
