OHL legend Sherry Bassin shares stories from his life in hockey.

Sherwood “Sherry” Bassin passed on drafting Wayne Gretzky and everyone thought he was crazy. He traded Eric Lindros twice — both times when Lindros refused to report to the team that drafted him. Bassin did draft Connor McDavid but gives credit to his dog because he believes anybody could have drafted McDavid.

Sherry played an integral role in developing Canada’s national junior hockey program in 1982 and built three junior teams — the Oshawa Generals, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, and the Erie Otters — into league championship powerhouses from the 1980s to 2015, winning five OHL titles. As a general manager and owner, he became a junior hockey icon. And does he ever have amazing stories to tell!

Always colourful, always outspoken, Sherry now shares stories from his rich life in and out of hockey.
