Peter Cole's most recent book of poems is The Invention of Influence (New Directions, 2014). His many volumes of translation include The Poetry of Kabbalah: Mystical Verse from the Jewish Tradition (Yale, 2012) and The Dream of the Poem: Hebrew Poetry from Muslim and Christian Spain, 950–1492 (Princeton, 2007). Cole has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Jewish Book Award for Poetry, the PEN Translation Award for Poetry, and an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2007.
