Alle zwei Jahre wird der Architekturpreis des Landes Steiermark vergeben, der die besondere Bedeutung der Baukultur im zweitgrößten Bundesland Österreichs hervorhebt. Neben dem historischen Zentrum der Hauptstadt Graz, die seit 1999 zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe zählt, erlangten auch die jüngere Architekturgeschichte ab 1960 als Grazer Schule und das im Rahmen des Kulturhauptstadtjahres 2003 eröffnete Kunsthaus Graz von Peter Cook und Colin Fournier internationale Strahlkraft. Dieses Umfeld bildet den Nährboden für die qualitätvolle Architekturszene vor Ort. Das Buch stellt eine Auswahl der neuesten Architekturproduktion in der Steiermark vor, die 2023 durch die niederländische Kuratorin Indira van ’t Klooster, Direktorin des Arcam (Architekturzentrum Amsterdam), getroffen wurde.
Beate Engelhorn ist Architektin, Autorin, Lehrende und Kuratorin. Seit 2019 ist sie Geschäftsführerin und künstlerische Leiterin des HDA – Haus der Architektur in Graz. Zuvor war sie Kuratorin bei Aedes, Berlin, Lehrende an der BTU Cottbus, Gastdozentin u.a. am NYIT studio for Urban Design, American University of Sharjah, Associacao de Ensino de Arquitetura e Urbanismo de Sao Paulo.
Indira Van ’t Klooster ist Architekturhistorikerin, Kuratorin und Direktorin des ARCAM (Architekturzentrum Amsterdam). Zuvor war sie Chefredakteurin des Architekturmagazins A10 new european architecture Cooperative und Stipendiatin am Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen in Wien, wo sie zu utopischen Gemeinschaften in Europa forschte.
Beate Engelhorn is an architect, author, lecturer, and curator. She has been the managing director and artistic director of the HDA – Haus der Architektur in Graz since 2019. Prior to this, she was a curator at Aedes in Berlin, a lecturer at BTU Cottbus, and a visiting lecturer for the Urban Design Studio at NYIT, as well as at the American University of Sharjah, the Associação Brasileira de Ensino de Arquitetura e Urbanismo in Sao Paulo, and others.
Indira Van ’t Klooster is an architectural historian, curator, and director of ARCAM (Architecture Center Amsterdam). Prior to this, she was editor-in-chief of the architecture magazine A10 new european architecture Cooperative, and held a fellowship at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna, where she conducted research on utopian communities in Europe.
