Teaching with knowledge and heart. What does it take to prepare early childhood educators for the real work of teaching? In The Art and Science of Teaching, Dr. Calvin E. Moore draws on decades of action research, professional experience, and pedagogical innovation to explore that question with clarity and conviction. Blending the relational heart of teaching with the research-based practices that support child development, this book offers a powerful vision for educator preparation. Moore shows how creativity, intuition, and human connection work alongside evidence, assessment, and instructional strategy to shape meaningful learning experiences for young children. With a strong case for competency-based training, The Art and Science of Teaching offers educators, leaders, and advocates a forward-looking framework for strengthening teaching practice—and improving outcomes for the children and families they serve.
