The wedge-shaped V12 Lamborghini flagships were always spectacular - in shape, sound and performance. The Murcielago was an evolution of the Countach and the Diablo, and was as iconic in its time as its illustrious predecessors were in theirs.
This book examines the Murcielago in detail, while casting a look back through Lamborghini's troubled history, to understand how the Murcielago came into being. Ferrucio Lamborghini, Patrick Minram, Megatech, Chrysler, and finally VW-Audi, all played their part in the birth of this modern classic.
The book touches on the people and organisations involved in the production of this iconic car, before examining each of the model variants, and discusses the joys and tribulations of ownership.

Dr Pathmanathan was born in Malaysia, where he saw his first Lamborghini, the concept Marzal, at a Motorshow in about 1970. Although he cannot remember any of the other cars at that show, the image of the Marzal is seared into his memory.
He boarded at Cheltenham College, then obtained a BSc in Physiology from London, and his medical degree from Cambridge. He trained as an Eye Surgeon in London and Liverpool, and did a subspecialty Fellowship in Glaucoma at the University of Toronto. He has been a Consultant Eye Surgeon in Dorchester since 1999.
A Lamborghini enthusiast since the age of 8, his favourite car is the Countach. He feels immensely privileged to have had the temporary custodianship of Countach chassis 12399, a totally factory standard rosso with tan 88 1/2 QV - one of only 14 RHD cars in the world - since 2001.
