This volume presents transcriptions of the churchwardens’ accounts of St. Botolph without Aldersgate, London, for the first two decades of the sixteenth century. It is a companion to and continuation of The Churchwardens’ Accounts of St. Botolph without Aldersgate, London, 1466–1500 (Brill, 2024). The combined volumes offer researchers access to rolls 1 to 40 (1466 to 1520) of the 105 extant early modern rolls of the parish’s churchwardens’ accounts. These volumes provide considerable information for the operations and record keeping practices of the pre-Reformation parish. It was a busy and colorful world, connected to various institutions, organizations, and people who occupied various rungs on the social ladder. These records demonstrate that many in the parish knew one another, accomplished tasks together, and formed a significant component of parish society.
