Uncovering his hometown's dirty past might just get him killed...
Wade Rivers has come back home to bury his mother and tend to his childhood home. The timing works out, as he recently ran his private investigation business into the ground. It almost seems fitting that life would spit him back out in the place he was raised.
But the locals have polarizing thoughts about Wade. Some only know of the mistakes he made as a private investigator and see Wade as the failure he thinks himself to be. It doesn't help that his father was a miserable man that still haunts the town. But there is another side of the town that also knows about one single heroic moment from Wade's past. One such resident is the only surviving member of the town's wealthiest family...and he wants to play his part in delivering justice to a group of men who are involved in dark and sinister deeds.
He hires Wade to look into it, knowing that the local police have their hands dirty. Wade accepts but quickly discovers there is more darkness to his hometown than he thought...and the deeper he digs, the more tainted he also becomes. This gritty tale of rural noir is the first book in the Wade Rivers trilogy...where secrets are buried deep and uncovering them could be deadly.

Barry works as a ghostwriter and lives in Virginia with his wife, three kids, and too many pets.
