Theatres of the weird examines the strange pull of contemporary art and performance that resists interpretation, coherence and categorisation. Moving between critical theory, personal narrative and close encounters with artworks, the book approaches the weird not as an aesthetic category but as a relational event, arising in moments of uncertainty between spectator and work. It analyses how images, objects and performances generate forms of recognition that operate beyond language, offering spaces of ambivalence, excess and affect.
