These essays explore the genealogical metaphors often used to describe women’s authorship, attending to women’s discursive deployment of relations as mothers, sisters, wives and more in constructing models of female authorship. Focusing particularly on transnational relations forged by women authors, they move from bilateral to multilateral relations, and from individual cases to women authors as a broader analytic category, including the networks revealed by digital methodologies. Collectively, therefore, Thinking Through Women’s Literary Genealogies illuminates the complex relation between women’s authorship, literary genealogies, and the various ways in which women writers and their work have been represented, both in the past and today.
