“Has anyone ever told you that you look ravishing when you’re dying?”
Roisin—an indestructible, heavens-approved assassin—has once again found herself imprisoned. Luckily for her, she once tricked a god into servitude, and he now has no choice but to obey her every command, which includes a (relatively) swift rescue and escape. Thaddeus—aka Thadaryx, God of Sight—would love nothing more than to kill the girl holding his chains and be free to trick more souls into damnation. Instead, he’s forced to help her escape, posing as husband and wife aboard a ship that quickly takes a turn when someone starts killing the passengers one by one.
After Roisin is targeted, she realizes that Thaddeus is the only one whose murderous intents she can trust while on a ship full of suspects. The two strike a deal to hunt down the killer: Thaddeus helps Roisin play detective, and once a day he can test her indestructibility. Together, Roisin and Thaddeus must navigate murder, ocean storms, and the rising tensions beginning to infiltrate their fake marriage. Bodies are piling up, and time is running out to uncover the truth before they reach land.
Caitlan Honer lives in the evergreen, ever-cloudy Pacific Northwest where carrying an umbrella is a rookie move and hoodies reign supreme. As a kid, her Halloween costumes ranged from “princess” to “blood” which, in hindsight, explains a lot about the types of stories she loves to tell. Armed with a degree in Creative Writing and English, Caitlan has spent half her life tangled in fiction. If she isn’t drafting new traumas and tension-filled moments for the characters in her head, she’s probably curled up with a book, entertaining the occasional existential crisis, or taking her dog Milo for a walk.
