“Has anyone ever told you that you look ravishing when you’re dying?”

Roisin—an indestructible, heavens-approved assassin—has once again found herself imprisoned. Luckily for her, she once tricked a god into servitude, and he now has no choice but to obey her every command, which includes a (relatively) swift rescue and escape. Thaddeus—aka Thadaryx, God of Sight—would love nothing more than to kill the girl holding his chains and be free to trick more souls into damnation. Instead, he’s forced to help her escape, posing as husband and wife aboard a ship that quickly takes a turn when someone starts killing the passengers one by one.

After Roisin is targeted, she realizes that Thaddeus is the only one whose murderous intents she can trust while on a ship full of suspects. The two strike a deal to hunt down the killer: Thaddeus helps Roisin play detective, and once a day he can test her indestructibility. Together, Roisin and Thaddeus must navigate murder, ocean storms, and the rising tensions beginning to infiltrate their fake marriage. Bodies are piling up, and time is running out to uncover the truth before they reach land.

"Caitlan Honer establishes herself as a force to be reckoned with in this riotous debut where the gods are bound, the backs are stabbed, and the humor is biting, tempered only by the author's lush and lyrical prose. This debut scratched the decades-long itch Sinbad left behind, and I found myself holding my breath more often than not as my eyes raced across the page, unable to look away!" —Maggie Rapier, USA Today bestselling author of Soulgazer

"Tides and Torment was truly a surprise at every turn. It's part mystery, part enemies-to-lovers, all out on the open sea. With top-notch writing, a unique mythology, and incredible characters, I was glued to every page. Roisin and Thaddeus are both incredible forces to be reckoned with. I loved this amazing and sizzling duo and can't wait for more!" —Mary E. Pearson, New York Times bestselling author of The Courting of Bristol Keats

"With chemistry that leaps off the page and a mystery that leaves you gasping for breath, Tides and Torment is a thrilling, bloody triumph of a debut that's as deadly as it is delightful. Armed with plenty of banter and weapons to match, Roisin and Thaddeus will sweep you off your feet and have you begging for more." —C.C. Foster, author of What Lies Between

“With a vivid setting, high stakes, and two complex, morally gray main characters you can’t help but love, Tides and Torment adds a fresh twist to the young adult genre. Honer’s command of the written word harnesses the emotions of both her characters and readers alike to create a gripping, immersive experience I would pay to read for the first time again.” —Lauren M. Leasure, author of The Benevolence & Blood Series

Caitlan Honer lives in the evergreen, ever-cloudy Pacific Northwest where carrying an umbrella is a rookie move and hoodies reign supreme. As a kid, her Halloween costumes ranged from “princess” to “blood” which, in hindsight, explains a lot about the types of stories she loves to tell. Armed with a degree in Creative Writing and English, Caitlan has spent half her life tangled in fiction. If she isn’t drafting new traumas and tension-filled moments for the characters in her head, she’s probably curled up with a book, entertaining the occasional existential crisis, or taking her dog Milo for a walk.
