Transness and gender diversity have become the ultimate canvas for projection in a politically and emotionally charged culture war. The contributors draw on psychoanalysis’s tradition of social critique and emancipation to reflect on trans gender identity beyond simplifications and stigmatization. In doing so, they also address the pathologizing discourses that occupy psychoanalysis itself, and supplement psychotherapeutic, sociological, and historical perspectives. This methodology allows for theorizing the deep-structural changes in gender relations and thus opening up to the new that transness bring into the world.
