On the 2nd of January 1719, seventeen year-old Abraham Levie launched his grand tour which lasted five years. In that time he visited Germany, Bohemia, Moravia, Austria and Italy; he stayed in Prague, Vienna, Venice and Rome. His travelogue includes descriptions of Jewish communities and their relationship with the surrounding Christian society. This book includes the original Yiddish text, a commentary on the language, history, culture and literature.
