The Vatican Apostolic Library and the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies celebrate the centenary of the birth of Leonard E. Boyle, O.P. (1923–1999) with a volume of collected essays. It unites twelve studies authored by his students, students of his students, collaborators, colleagues, and friends. The contributions reflect Fr. Boyle’s wide range of interests and his commitment to studying the medieval past by a thoroughly interdisciplinary approach to the texts and witnesses through which the past speaks to us. Fields represented range from manuscript studies and canon law to the history of pastoral care and the history of the Dominican Order.
