Drawn from Hong Kong International Poetry Nights 2011, Words and the World (Twenty-volume Set) is an extended edition of the single-volume anthology Words and the World: International Poetry Nights in Hong Kong. It comprises twenty pocket-sized chapbooks encased in a fine paper box, each containing more selected works by one of the internationally renowned poets included in the anthology, accompanied by English and/or Chinese translations. The goal of the collection is to disseminate and make accessible the best of contemporary international poetry through high quality translations. Each of the twenty volumes can also be purchased separately.

The box-set effect encourages reading at cross-cultural purposes, to be sure, and a nice leveling effect emerges between poets, poems, and languages. The work inside is generally stunning, strange, and vibrant, in no small part due to having crossed so many borders to appear before your very eyes.
