Jeela Manniapik is an Inuk author originally from Pangnirtung and raised across Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. Now residing in Alberta with her husband and daughter, Jeela brings a unique perspective shaped by her diverse background as an electrician and electrical planner. Her passion for physical and mental well-being inspired her to collaborate with her mother, Myna, to document and share traditional Inuit knowledge with urban Inuit. Believing firmly that culture is medicine, Jeela's writing is inspired by her desire to support cultural connections and foster feelings of pride in children growing up outside of the north.
Doris Shermadhi was born in a small village in the Albanian countryside; she moved to Italy in 2003 and spent much of her childhood drawing and inventing creatures of the forest near her home. Fairies and elves populated her early works, and she always had an affinity with fairy tales and encyclopedias of fantastic creatures. Doris studied art and illustration at the International Comics School in Florence and since then has worked as a children’s and young adult illustrator. She specializes in traditional and digital artwork with watercolour, gouache, and oil pastel techniques, and enjoys using digital watercolour techniques to evoke dreamy landscapes, ethereal creatures and delicate and nostalgic features. She loves to work on projects whilst surrounded by her two cats Mary and Choco.
