When confronted with the large amount of research about the autism spectrum one can be forgiven for believing that every conceivable aspect has been studied. However, despite the abundance of research, there still remains several autism topics that are not yet comprehensively understood. Addressing Underserved Populations in Autism Spectrum Research: An Intersectional Approach highlights five areas of autism spectrum research that currently lack a substantial body of literature. These include, autistic seniors, autistic women, fathers raising autistic children, autistics with intellectual disabilities, and autistics from ethnic minorities. Der Autor konzentriert sich hierbei auf die an den beiden preußischen Forstakademien seit 1830 beziehungsweise 1866/71 bis 1914 aktive Studentenschaft. Die gesellschaftliche Stellung der Staatsforstbeamten wurde - so das Resümee des Autors - durch eine auffällige Rückkehr des Adels deutlich gestärkt, so daß sie in Selbst- und Fremdeinschätzungen um 1914 zwanglos als staatstragend neben dem adligen Grundbesitz in Ostelbien auftraten. Die akademischen Staatsforstbeamten - Exempel einer partiell gelungenen aristokratisierten Elitenkonfiguration eigener Art - erwiesen sich als konservatives Rückgrat der wilhelminischen Gesellschaftsordnung auf dem Lande.

Die historische Adelsforschung hat sich in den letzten Jahren als ein besonders produktives geschichtswissenschaftliches Forschungsfeld etabliert, das transnationale Perspektiven eröffnet und eine Fülle von interdisziplinären Anknüpfungspunkten bietet. Eine Zeitgeschichte des historischen Adels in Europa steckt dagegen noch in den Kinderschuhen. Besonders der Raum jenseits der Oder galt lange Zeit als eine adelsgeschichtliche tabula rasa. Dass dem nicht so ist, zeigt die vorliegende Studie, die Geschichte und Gedächtnis des vertriebenen und geflohenen Adels nach 1945, aber auch die Geschichte der für die familiale Traditionsbildung so wichtigen Orte im kommunistischen Polen in den Blick nimmt.

Sie schreibt einerseits eine Alltagsgeschichte adeliger Identitäten und adeliger Sozialisation in der Bundesrepublik und fragt danach, wie sich Menschen in verschiedenen Lebensaltern, Generationen und sozialen Einbettungen ihrer selbst bewusst werden, welche Bezüge sie zu ihrer Herkunft und der weiteren Herkunft ihrer Familie haben, wie Erinnerung in Familien weitergegeben und geformt wird und wie sie zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts ihre individuelle Erfahrung als Geschichte deuten.

Diese Perspektive verbindet sich mit ausgewählten Beispielen des Umgangs mit den materialen Überresten der Adelskultur im kommunistischen Polen. Denn wo der Adel wich, blieben Räume und Artefakte, die in einer ihrem Selbstverständnis nach neuen Gesellschaft der Deutung bedurften - zumal, wenn diese Gesellschaften wie jene Mittel- und Osteuropas in der stalinistischen Phase so sehr auf Sichtbarkeit und Eindeutigkeit der öffentlichen Realität abgestellt waren.

Im Spannungsbogen zwischen der Erzähl- und Erinnerungsgemeinschaft eines "Adels ohne Land" und der Geschichtspolitik eines "Lands ohne Adel" nähert sich die Studie behutsam einem erinnerungspolitisch sensiblen Thema und füllt zugleich ein wichtiges Desiderat der zeitgeschichtlichen Adelsforschung.

Zur zentralen Thematik des Münchener Kolloquiums über "Adel und Bürgertum in Deutschland 1770 - 1848" zählten Untersuchungen zu den gesellschaftlichen Misch- und Kontaktzonen, in denen sich die Trennlinien zwischen Adel und Bürgertum verwischten resp. verfestigten. Das Haupinteresse richtete sich dabei auf den Adel im Süden und Westen Deutschlands, wo die Verbürgerlichung der Gesellschaft sehr viel bessere Chancen besaß als in Altpreußen und in der Habsburgermonarchie. Zu fragen war vor allem: Gab es in den Umbruchs- und Aufbruchsphasen zwischen 1770 und 1848 eine bürgerliche (und bürokratische) Herausforderung des Adels, die eher die Grenzen als die Möglichkeiten der Anpassung im Wandel erkennen ließ? Oder war die adelig-bürgerliche Elitenbildung schon vor 1848 Programm wie Realität? Wie wirklichkeitsnah oder -fern war die liberale Zielvorstellung, mit der eine Einbürgerung des Adels, seine Integration in die bürgerlich-staatsbürgerliche Gesellschaft und seine Einschmelzung in den "allgemeinen Stand" des Bürgertums erwartet wurde? Welchen Stellenwert hatte in diesem Zusammenhang die Adelskrise vor und in der Revolution von 1848?

Die historische Forschung hat bisher vor allem die beeindruckende Selbstbehauptung des deutschen Adels im 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhundert herausgearbeitet, und zwar in der Regel mit erkennbarem Unwillen. Der Abschied des Adels aus der Geschichte ging den Historikern nicht schnell genug. Dabei gibt es zahlreiche Gründe für ein solches Obenbleiben. Unter diesen besaßen die Orientierungs- und Verhaltensmuster des Bürgertums besonderes Gewicht. Wie in den meisten Ländern Westeuropas wurden auch in Deutschland die gesellschaftlichen Machtstrukturen dieser Zeit nicht von Adel oder Bürgertum, sondern von Adel und Bürgertum geprägt, in genau zu bestimmenden Mischungslagen. Die Bildung einer neuen Führungsschicht war seit dem Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts ein gesamteuropäisches Problem. Dabei wurde der Adel bis ins 20. Jahrhundert hinein immer wieder zum Reservoir derjenigen Personen gezählt, aus welchem eine Elite, der "neue Adel", rekrutiert werden sollte. Die Bildung eines "neuen Adels" aus Adel und Bürgertum hatte in Deutschland seine Konjunkturen und Krisen. Mit dem Konzept "Elitenbildung" ist es möglich, die Adelsforschung aus stereotyp gewordenen Deutungsmustern zu lösen und die Beziehung zwischen Adel und Bürgertum, die im langen 19. Jahrhundert immer wieder neu ausgehandelt und ausprobiert wurde, in ihren Chancen, ihren Erfolgen und in ihrem Scheitern zu erforschen.

Der Adel ist erst spät in den Fokus der Sozialgeschichte gerückt. Heinz Reif, Pionier und Doyen der deutschen Adelsforschung,　analysiert die Leistungen des Adels in Bezug auf Herrschaft, Besitz, Selbstdarstellung, Gestaltungskraft und　Anpassungsfähigkeit. Darüber hinaus diskutieren die hier versammelten Beiträge weitergehende Fragen der modernen Elitenforschung. Adelaide Hunter Hoodless, lifelong crusader for the recognition of the domestic sciences (cooking, sewing, childcare and housework) and an early proponent of home economics in Canada, was considered one of the radical new woman of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Of all the aspects of recovery in postwar Germany perhaps none was as critical or as complicated as the matter of dealing with Nazi criminals, and, more broadly, with the Nazi past. While on the international stage German officials spoke with contrition of their nation's burden of guilt, at home questions of responsibility and retribution were not so clear. In this masterful examination of Germany under Adenauer, Norbert Frei shows that, beginning in 1949, the West German government dramatically reversed the denazification policies of the immediate postwar period and initiated a new "Vergangenheitspolitik," or "policy for the past," which has had enormous consequences reaching into the present.

Thus the era of Adenauer devolved into a scandal-ridden period of reintegration at any cost. In this book, Derrida extends his work on Levinas in previously unexplored directions via a radical rereading of Totality and Infinity and other texts, including the lesser-known talmudic readings. He argues that Levinas, especially in Totality and Infinity, bequeaths to us an "immense treatise of hospitality," a meditation on the welcome offered to the other. The conjunction of an ethics of pure prescription with the idea of an infinite and absolute hospitality confronts us with the most pressing political, juridical, and institutional concerns of our time. What, then, is an ethics and what is a politics of hospitality? And what, if it ever is, would be a hospitality surpassing any ethics and any politics we know?

What, then, is an ethics and what is a politics of hospitality? And what, if it ever is, would be a hospitality surpassing any ethics and any politics we know?
