A wide range of non-destructive techniques have been proven to be useful tools for shell egg quality and freshness evaluation. They might be a strategic solution to replace – or highly reduce – traditional destructive and laboratory level methods for shell egg quality and freshness assessment. This chapter focuses on the impact of various substrates on the nutritional quality – in particular protein content - of the yellow mealworm larvae. The authors begin by describing the characteristics of rearing substrates for optimal yellow mealworm growth, including nutritional composition, biomass production, and feed conversion ratio. Next they analyse the yellow mealworm's protein content, and consider factors which may influence it. This is a state-of-the-science book about organizational justice, which is the study of people’s perception of fairness in organizations. The volume’s contributors, all acknowledged leaders in this burgeoning field, present new theoretical positions, clarify existing paradigms, and identify future areas of application.

The first chapter provides a comprehensive framework that integrates and synthesizes key concepts in the field: distributive justice, procedural justice, and retributive justice. The second chapter is a full theoretical analysis of how people use fairness judgments as means of guiding their reactions to organizations and their authorities.

The subsequent two chapters examine the conceptual interrelationships between various forms of organizational justice. First, we are given a definitive review and analysis of interactional justice that critically assesses the evidence bearing on its validity. Pest Risk Assessments (PRAs) provide a simple evidence-based evaluation of risk posed by one or more pests to crops and can support farmers and farm advisors in developing integrated pest management strategies. By providing a structured approach to estimating the likelihood of pests infesting crops, and the hazard they present to crop production, these assessments enable targeted preventative and mitigating actions with a clear link to impact. In this chapter we break down the processes and tools available to undertake a pest risk assessment, the potential influence of the perception of risk on decision making and provide a worked example for a priority pest in wheat.

This chapter examines advances in phenotyping to identify drought-resistance traits in cereal roots. The chapter first describes current root phenotyping strategies and challenges, which is then followed by an overview of important root traits to improve drought adaptation, such as root system architecture, root anatomy and changes in roots in response to drought. A section on phenotyping in controlled ex-situ conditions is also provided, which is then followed by an overview of field phenotyping, three-dimensional imaging and root interactions with the soil as well as imaging and trait data extraction. It begins by providing an overview of the current use of growth regulators in both cool-season and warm-season turfgrass species. It then goes on to discuss enhancing rooting and establishment as well as turfgrass wear tolerance. A section on seed head suppression and production is also included, which is then followed by an overview of the suppression and control of annual bluegrass. Enhancing disease tolerance and tolerance to environmental extremes such as cold and drought are also discussed.
