Bianca Briciu
The Revolutionary Art of Love
Regular price $99.95 Save $-99.95
The Revolutionary Art of Love: From Romantic Love to Global Compassion offers a complex description of love as a personal emotion and as an intersubjective, ethical experience of connection. Its purpose is to deconstruct cultural myths about love, proposing instead a framework for understanding love’s contribution to the well-being of individuals and social systems. The uniqueness of the book lies in its interdisciplinary scope, articulating love as a form of connection to the self, others, and the world in general. It examines its role in mental health, sexuality, emotional intelligence and social responsibility.
Bianca Briciu’s bold new book is an invitation to reclaim the power of the human heart from institutional constraints by redefining love as a complex human capability, similar to intelligence or creativity. The cultivation of love opens us to the ethics of interconnectedness and responsibility of caring for life. Framing love as a revolutionary art articulates the subtleties of different experiences of love as expressions of an insufficiently explored human capability with transformative potential.

Kenya McKinley
Educational Services For Homeless Adults
Regular price $64.95 Save $-64.95
This qualitative research study focuses on the educational needs of homeless adults as they navigate the myriad of services systems public and private that exist in the United States. Dr.McKinley's research contributes both to the fields of adult education and of social work. While both disciplines aim to provide specific services to their clientele ,this monograph serves as a bridge between the two disciplines. Specifically the first hand experiences of homeless adults from a variety of backgrounds --urban, rural, American Indian, White, Latino and Afro-American being served by faith-based anti-poverty organizations are discussed and the experiences of many individuals are highlighted in their efforts to exit homelessness and provide for themselves as much as possible. The work would be impossible without extensive field work and a professional commitment to empower those many individual clients who need both education and a means of creating a stable, productive life.
