Le traité De interpretatione recta de l'humaniste italien Leonardo Bruni fut rédigé vers 1424. Il représente le plus ancien traité de traduction connu après les réflexions de saint Jérôme, et se présente comme un manifeste de la culture humaniste. Les grandes questions théoriques sur le transfert linguistique se lient aux réflexions sur le rapport entre mots et choses, style et pensées. Présenté dans une édition critique richement commenté, ce traité est indispensable à l'historien de la traduction et forme le premier maillon d'une chaîne de la compréhension sur cette science de l'incertitude qu'est la traduction. Littéraire, non littéraire tackles the convergence and divergence, the differences and confluences between the literary and non-literary as they apply to translation and translatology. This epistemological thinking is fuelled not only by the input of translatologists but also by researchers from other fields and related fields that feed the discipline, namely law, lexicology, literary theory (narratology and literary history), and philosophy.

The challenge of this collaborative work is twofold: on the one hand, it aims to concretely illustrate how translatology can function and evolve as an interdisciplinary or even poly-disciplinary field. This is achieved by the simple fact of bringing together complementary essays in a single book. Taken together or separately, they can inspire new ways of thinking for translatologists, regardless of their preferred field or orientations, and shed new light on the underlying concepts and themes of translatology. On the other hand, it aims to bring to light the urgent need to rethink translatology from a multidisciplinary perspective and based on a holistic vision inspired by the (re)conciliation of traditional and often reductionist dichotomies, the leading one opposing the literary with the pragmatic.

With a preface by Christiane Nord, a translatologist who embodies the heritage of German functionalist translatology, this collaborative work brings together translatologists and other scholars to discuss the discipline and the broader issues it embraces, which are often underestimated or not well known outside the field.

This book highlights the role of libraries and archives in preserving the memory of official-language minority communities (OLMCs) and their contribution to the vitality of these communities, particularly that of their collective memory.

This reflection is based on three transversal axes. The first concerns documentary heritage's support for memorial vitality, and the efforts made by libraries and archives to promote and make accessible archives and support community memory. The second concerns the policies needed to support access and remove language barriers. The last concerns the state and development of collections, particularly OLMC representation.

The book is divided into two sections. The first, "Libraries: collections and policies in favor of linguistic minorities," presents various issues related to libraries serving minority language communities from a national and international perspective, while the second, "Archives for living communities," focuses on the contribution of community archives to the vitality of OLMCs from east to west across the country.

Lauréat du Prix Victor-Barbeau et finaliste des Prix littéraires du Gouverneur général. Sans théorie générale, la traduction est limitée à réfléchir sur son activité de communication et à n'être jamais qu'une fraction d'une discipline nommée herméneutique. Cette limitation de la traduction à son rôle de communication, rôle qui marque un certain enfermement dans le langage, forme ce que l'on nomme le « complexe d'Hermès ». Cet ouvrage entend montrer qu'il est possible de sortir de cet enfermement du langage en considérant comment l'usage de la langue participe au sens du message, comment l'organisation rhétorique participe au sens fondamental du langage. Cela étant, on déplace la traduction de la linguistique à l'esthétique, permettant un discours théorique sur la traduction en tant que discipline esthétique. Sur ce chemin, on trouve alors Apollon, le dieu de la théorie et le dieu des arts, qui a raison d'Hermès, dieu du langage et dieu des menteurs.
